CASEY KEY FLORIDA VACATIONS
In Southwest Florida on the Gulf of Mexico

For the most part, Casey Key is narrow with one road (Casey Key Road) running it’s entire length from north to south with
homes on the beach or the bay with water frontage. Many residents maintain parcels on both sides of the road. The main
house is often on the bay while the cabana or guest quarters are on the beach. There is no public beach access until you
reach the southern end of the key.
Casey Key is accessible via two roads, Blackburn Point Rd to the north and Albee Road to the south. The northern Bridge
at Blackburn Point is an historic swing bridge that’s known for good fishing and observing the bridge in action. Just
before the bridge and to the right is a kayak launching area while a quaint little eatery and watering hole is hidden on
the left as you cross over.
Home to some of Florida's Wealthiest and most extravagant, Casey Key maintains a relaxed “old Florida” environment free of
high rises and commercialism. With a winding scenic thoroughfare covered in a canopy of tropical trees, drive or park the
car and ride a bike along the twisting narrow road flanked by some of Sarasota’s finest.
The island is strictly residential with only a few small Inns near the southern end. If crossing the north end at
Blackburn Point Bridge, there is no place to stop until you drive south about 4 miles of winding road and arrive at
Nokomis Beach.
Other eateries can be found off the south end of the island by crossing the bridge to the mainland.
Nokomis Beach is a quiet respite popular with locals. Although the sand is coarse, the trade off affords privacy,
solitude and encounters with Nature.
