John Ringling had purchased these islands with plans for a major tourist attraction. Although the reality did not
arrive within his lifetime, Lido and St. Armands Keys maintain world-class status featuring elegant shops, and award winning
restaurants. The islands are linked with bridges to the mainland of Sarasota as well as the island of Longboat Key.
An average year round 75-degree temperature makes this island paradise very conducive for just about anything.
Tennis and Golf enthusiasts will find
first-class facilities near-by. Bikers and rollerbladers can travel along the shoreline or wend their way through
park-like settings and tropical side streets. Charter a Boat with or without a captain and explore the area's
many bays and backwaters, or take to the ocean for Deep Sea Fishing, scuba diving and snorkeling. Or, enjoy a
Sailing or Sightseeing excursion while visiting
North Lido Beach is a pristine half-mile
stretch of sand accented by towering Australian pines. Spanning an area behind a residential location, it is the
least populated and perfect for walking.
Perhaps you prefer being around people, making new friends and enjoying the beach scene. Mid-key, the
public Beach supports a swimming pool, playground,
concession stand and shops. Lifeguards are on duty all year-round.
At the southern end of Lido Key, you'll find 100 acres of Australian pines, picnic tables, grills, a volleyball court and
playground. Nature lovers enjoy the wooden walkways, trails and canoeing opportunities at
South Lido Park.
Evening entertainment is only a short stroll away to St. Armands Key. A circular park dedicated to the memory of
John Ringling, is flanked by sophisticated restaurants, nightclubs, exclusive shops and exotic boutiques.
Legendary Fine Dining can be found both on and off the Key. Whether
your taste is for lobster bisque with a dash of sherry, roast rack of lamb accented with tarragon and fresh garlic, stone
crab claws with tangy mustard sauce or simply a down-home juicy cheeseburger, the range of award winning fare caters to a
multitude of appetite whims. Be sure to refer to the

Nearby Sarasota offers a vast array of arts and cultural attractions.
The Asolo Theatre is home to one of the area's leading regional theatrical companies. Performances are scheduled
from November through June on a turn-of-the-century stage. Professionals from around the United States gather to
present a unique repertory ranging from classics to new works. They provide audio described performances for the
visually impaired, wireless headsets for those with hearing loss, and wheelchair access and positioning on the ground level.
Sharing the stage with the Asolo is the acclaimed Sarasota Ballet of Florida offering a repertoire of classical and modern
dance performed throughout the year. If you recall the sophisticated apparel worn by Joan Collins featured on
the weekly series "Dynasty", then you will be astonished by the striking costumes worn by these dancers (same designer).
Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium, located at the south end of Longboat Key is a world-renowned marine research center.
The aquarium offers a fascinating array of sea life for viewing. The 30-foot Touch Tank and 135,000-gallon
Shark tank bring visitors face to face with a variety of shark species, fish and marine life.
The Pelican Man's Bird Sanctuary located near Mote Marine in Ken Thompson Park, is a sanctuary that cares for injured
shorebirds on two waterfront acres. A meandering boardwalk brings visitors through lush vegetation surrounding
pens and pools filled with a variety of native and migratory birds. Admission: $4.00 donation (Children are Free)
